Do you need to reset your NewHeights™ standing desk, but not sure how to do it? In this article, you'll learn three different ways to successfully reset your electric standing desk from RightAngle™ Products.
But before jumping into the reset procedure, let’s go over when a reset needs to be performed. You will need to reset your NewHeights™ standing desks if:
If one of those things is occurring, it means that your desk no longer has a reference point and can’t identify which height it’s at. A reset brings the desk to its lowest position. This will reprogram the desk’s reference height and get it back in working order.
There are a variety of ways you can reset your desk. The following are the three reset options we'll talk about in this article:
1. Manual, more old school reset method. This will work on any standing desk from RightAngle™.
2. Use the desk's control switch. This will work for NewHeights™ equipped with the following Laing Innotech Control Boxes & switch type:
1. Rev. # excludes "V11" + 4 button switch.
2. Rev. # includes "V11" + 2 button switch.
3. Rev. # includes "V11" + 4 button switch.
3. Use the NewHeights™ Mobile App. This is will work for desk's equipped with a Bluetooth Laing Innotech Control Box .
The control box will be the rectangular box located on the underside of your worksurface. Both the control switch cable and power cord connect to the control box.
To find out which one your desk has, go under your desk and snap a photo of the control box. Then, look at the photo to identify the control box's brand (Laing Innotech, Logic Data, or TiMotion).
If you have a Laing Innotech control box, you will also need to identify its Rev. number includes "V11" and if it's Bluetooth compatible. Here are some examples as reference.
Let’s go over the basic way to reset any standing desk from RightAngle™ Products. The steps are simple.
1. Remove anything from under the desk that may obstruct travel. This is especially important if you have programmed a lower container stops. That feature turns off while the desk is in reset mode. If unfamiliar with container stops, click here to learn more.
2. Unplug the desk from the power outlet and wait 30 seconds. You need to wait the full 30 seconds for this to work. If you plug it in too early, your desk reset will not be successful.
3. While you wait those 30 seconds, check that all other cords and cables are connected and secure. This includes the cables for the control switch and the motor(s).
4. Once a full 30 seconds has passed, plug the power cord back into the wall socket. You may hear a few clicks.
5. Press and hold either the up or down arrow (doesn’t matter which) until the desk reaches its lowest position. Continue to hold down the button until the desk dips down, slightly rises, and then stops moving. Then, release. Your desk may travel at a slower rate than usual. This is normal.
6. The desk has been successfully reset.
The only downside to this method is that it requires you to crawl under your desk to unplug the power cord. This brings us to Reset Option 2. With all resets it has to go to the lowest setting
